The Secretariat of Youth Hostels of sites and World Heritage Cities launches new website to celebrate 100 years of the hostelling networkIn the presence of the Secretariat of World Heritage City Hostels (Mr. Pierre D. Tremblay), as well as the representative of HI (Mr. Joël Marier, Executive director of HI-Canada), the new website was officially unveiled at the Auberge Internationale de Québec. Several guests from the worlds of tourism and heritage attended the event. As was noted, Joël Marier, the Secretariat of Youth Hostels of World Heritage Sites and Cities (SAJSVPM) will play a major international role in the development and heritage protection. The program is a very concrete illustration of the work of youth hostels in connection with the philosophy of the HI network. At the launch, Chairman of the Board of Directors Pierre D. Tremblay said that more than ever the interest that people have in World Heritage sites and cities, reflects the desire to memorialize historic sites as much conservation. More and more people are paying attention to the planet and are concerned about its climate and its limited resources. Our work is very much in this line of thought. The secretariat was created in late 2007, thanks to support from partners such as the Organization of World heritage Cities, Québec City, Hostelling International (HI), The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organization (UNESCO), the Regional Conference of Elected Representatives (CRE) of the National Capital, The Local Development Centre (LDC) of Québec, the Caisse d'économie solidaire, the Executive Council (Youth Secretariat), the Office of Tourism Québec, Auberge Internationale de Québec and the Member of the National Assembly (MNA) for Taschereau, Agnès Maltais. -- 30 -- 418 871-7272 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
